KSP Post 13 to Participate in 2nd Annual “Lap Quilts for Vets”

A group of quilt makers in eastern Kentucky are partnering with Kentucky State Police Post 13 for the 2nd Annual “Lap Quilts for Vets” quilt drive to assist local veterans. Audry Combs, quilt maker and mother of a KSP Sergeant, approached  Post 13 with a proposal of having troopers assist with the veteran’s project. A trooper assigned to the area would assist with pick up quilts from quilt makers with health issues, which would allow a police presence in an area they wouldn’t normally patrol as well as form positive bonds with the community. KSP Post 13 will serve as a central drop-off and storage location for the quilts until their scheduled delivery May 29, 2017. Any quilt maker with a quilt ready for pickup or questions about the program can call Post 13 at 606-435-6069.
