Community Encouraged to Report Incidents of Human Trafficking

Attorney General Andy Beshear joined human trafficking prevention advocates, survivors, and law enforcement on Monday, April 22, 2019 to encourage the community to help stop trafficking at the 145th Kentucky Derby. Beshear said it is no fault of the Derby, but that human traffickers target many large-scale sporting events to prey on victims and profit from the crime. Indicators of human trafficking may be traveling in groups and have identical tattoos or branding; unable to identify their location; lacking official identification; appearing malnourished or have physical injuries; and avoiding eye contact and using limited, scripted, or rehearsed responses. If you suspect someone is in immediate danger, contact 911, and to report human trafficking of a child call 877-KYSAFE1 or contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 888-373-7888.
