No injuries after school bus runs off the road

No one was hurt when a school bus ran off the road Tuesday morning near the Lawrence and Elliott County line, sheriff's deputies say. It happened about 7:30 a.m. on Highway 32. Chief Deputy Mark Wheeler says the driver said she met a coal truck, and while the two vehicles were passing, the bus dropped of the edge of the road and into the ditch. The driver tried to steer the bus back on the road but was unable to do so. The bus traveled a couple hundred feet in the ditch line, and the top of the bus made contact with a rock face. Six children and a bus monitor were on the bus. No one was injured. The children were transferred to another bus and continued on to school.
