School bus torched, police suspect arson

Police are investigating the burning of a Pike County school bus as an arson. The bus, which served Belfry Middle and High Schools and Southside Elementary, was destroyed last week. The school board asks that any students or anyone else who knows how the fire started should tell police. This bus was only 3 or 4 years old and had just 50,000 miles on the odometer, which means the schools could have gotten much more use out of it. Anyone with information on the bus fire should call the Kentucky State Police Post in Pikeville at 606-433-7711. The school board has a replacement bus to take students to school and back home, and does have insurance for the bus.
