Two churches burglarized, Christmas presents opened

Two churches that were just 300 yards from each other were broken into and ransacked in Pikeville. Police believe one person is responsible for all the damage. Pastor Gene Layne was surprised to see his church's front door wide open Monday afternoon. The Church of God did not experience much damage, but protecting the church from future break-ins might be difficult with a door that does not close all the way.

At the Church of God, no items were stolen, which is something members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church wish was true for their congregation. They discovered the burglar even went so far as to open Christmas presents. If you have any information on these burglaries, call Pikeville Police at 606-437-5111.
