Friends' fight turns to stabbing

A fight between two friends took a bad turn, and now one is in the hospital and the other is in jail.

Pikeville Police say 21-year-old Daniel Gillespie stabbed 21-year-old Tommy Bray Tuesday night at an apartment building on Poplar Street in Pikeville. Bray is in intensive care, and Gillespie is charged with assault and impersonating a police officer.

Police say Gillespie confessed he pretended to be a police officer to get Bray to open the door before stabbing him. Friends at the apartment building say the fight between the two men started because Gillespie was mad someone called him a "rat." He is now in the Pike County Detention Center on a $30,000 full cash bond.
