Johnson Co. citizens band together to combat drug problem

Some Johnson County residents have come together to fight the drug problem themselves. Last September, a program was started to keep neighbors in Van Lear informed through monthly meetings. Lon Castle said everyone's seen the drugs, thefts and break-ins and got tired of it--and decided to do something about it. Castle said that being a victim and having his own home robbed, he realized that he needed to get together and talk to his neighbors and try to make a stand. Now just over a year later Castle said around forty people attend the meetings to talk about how they can make a change in their community as well as listen to educators talk about potential problems and ways to get rid of them.
