USPS downsizing could shutter Hazard processing office

The United States Postal Service is in the process of downsizing due to decline in revenue. A public meeting was held at the Hazard Forum to discuss the possible relocation of a mail processing office in Hazard, KY to Knoxville, TN. There is no official word that the operations will be moved to Tennessee. The reason for the meetings is to inform the public and ask about their concerns. Officials said that the plant in Hazard sorts the mail manually. The equipment in Knoxville would be able to more quickly and efficiently manage that if they choose that option.
