EMTs witness Letcher Co. car accident as it happens

Two EMS ambulance drivers witnessed a vehicle run off the road and hit a tree in Letcher County. It happened on KY 805 in the Haymond community on Saturday afternoon. Nineteen-year-old Jimmy Woods of Burdine was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt when two female EMTs with Neon Fire and Rescue say they saw him lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle then went off the east bound shoulder and collided with a tree. The two women say they rushed to the scene moments later where they found 22-year-old Whitney Griffin of McRoberts who was a passenger in the vehicle. Both Griffin and Woods were pronounced dead at the scene by the Letcher County Coroner's Office. No seat belts were in use. The collision is under investigation by state police in Hazard.
