Stumbo seeking special session for redistricting
House Speaker Greg Stumbo says he prefers convening a special legislative session this year to redraw Kentucky's legislative boundaries to match population shifts over the past decade. But Stumbo told reporters Tuesday that an agreement would have to be reached beforehand with Senate leaders. Stumbo says he hasn't met with Senate President David Williams about redistricting plans. Kentucky lawmakers begin their regular session in early January and could take up redistricting then. Under one scenario laid out by Stumbo, Owensboro would move to the 1st Congressional District and Ashland to the 5th District.
