Police arrest alleged funeral home burglar
A Floyd County man was arrested early this week after allegedly burglarizing a funeral home. Billy Samuel Nelson, 31, of Dwale, was arrested Monday at home by the Floyd County Sheriffâ€™s Office, after he reportedly broke into Nelson Frazier Funeral Home in Martin. According to the police report, Nelson broke in and pried open a safe that was in the office and allegedly made off with $2,000 in cash. When arrested, Nelson allegedly stated that â€œhe purchased $1,500 worth of pills from a subject the same night.â€ Nelson is charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking over $500, criminal mischief over $1,000, possession of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication, and second-degree possession of a controlled substance. Nelson is currently being held in the Floyd County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
