NHTSA warns of dangerous holiday driving, KSP out in force
Thanksgiving is the most dangerous holiday of the year for motorists, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This includes the four-day holiday driving period surrounding that date when heavy traffic, weather and long-distance road trips combine to create severe travel conditions. Last year, traffic crashes across Kentucky claimed the lives of nine people during the Thanksgiving travel period, including 1,305 traffic crashes with 405 injuries during that time frame. The Kentucky State Police will be targeting highways across Kentucky in the national "Click It or Ticket" campaign, sponsored by the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety. This campaign coincides with the Thanksgiving holiday travel period, during which occupant protection is a major focus.
