Police begin investigation into lethal shooting

Police are investigating a deadly shooting in Floyd County last week. It happened in Hueysville just off of Route 7. Police say 42-year-old Delmas Gene Slone, Jr. was killed. There are no arrests yet. Police are still trying to piece together what happened on Raccoon Road late Wednesday afternoon. State police got a 911 call for help. When troopers arrived, they say they found Delmas Slone, Jr. dead outside near his home. Officials say the alleged shooter does not live on the same street as Slone but does live somewhere in the area. Kentucky State Trooper Shaun Little said they are not releasing much information at this time because of the ongoing investigation, which is being conducted by detective Kevin Little. Police are still investigating if they knew each other and trying to figure out what led to the shooting. State police did not arrest the alleged shooter at the scene. They plan to take the case to the Floyd County grand jury to see if any charges will be filed.
