Suspected DUI takes a life

A 20-year-old Perry County man is behind bars and charged with murder after Kentucky State Police said he was driving impaired and caused a crash that killed someone. Reports indicate that Eric J. Ison was driving under the influence when he hit another vehicle, killing a man from Lost Creek in Breathitt County. KSP said it all began near Entertainment drive and the Fugate Cinemas. Ison was traveling southbound on Rt. 15 when he hit a guard rail, overcorrected, spun out of control and hit 68-year-old Bobby Napier, who was traveling northbound on 15. Napier was pronounced dead at the scene. Ison was taken to Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital where he was treated and released with minor injuries. He was taken into custody by the state police and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs (aggravated circumstances) and second degree murder. He is currently lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Detention Center.
