Breathitt Co. man postpones trip to Everest

An eastern Kentucky mountain climber is dropping plans to climb Mount Everest this year. Martin Douthitt told the Lexington Herald he plans to have knee-replacement surgery instead.

The man, a businessman hailing from Breathitt County, says he still hopes to tackle the world's tallest peak next year pending the surgery's success. Douthitt, 67, has so far climbed six of the seven summits, a collection of the highest mountains on each of Earth's seven continents.
