Copper theft continues to plague Letcher Co.

Copper thieves strike again in Letcher County. The thieves only took 200 feet of copper wiring, but it left many homes and businesses around the Isom area without phone service for most of the day.

This is certainly not the first time businesses along Highway 15 in Isom have gone without phone service. Kenneth Combs, who owns Comb's Pet Kingdom and Grooming, says this is the second time in two weeks the phone service has been out. Kentucky State Police confirm that this outage is the result of copper thieves, and it's making business hard. Service at the local pet shop has been restored, and AT&T is working as quickly as possible to get service back to everyone. State police are still investigating and are asking any one with information to call them.
