18 people die on Kentucky Roadways during the past week
Preliminary statistics indicate that 18 people died in 15 separate accidents on Kentucky roadways from Monday December 3rd through Sunday December 9th. Single fatality crashes occurred in Edmonson, Fayette, Franklin, Gallatin, Graves, Harlan, Jefferson, Jessamine, Kenton, Laurel and Lee Counties. The suspected use of alcohol was involved in the crash in Jessamine County, and the victim was not wearing a seatbelt. The victims in Fayette, Franklin, Gallatin and Lee Counties were also not wearing seatbelts. Through December 9th, preliminary statistics show that 696 people have lost their lives on Kentucky roads in 2012. That number is 4 more than through the same date in 2011. Of the 552 total motor vehicle fatalities, 304 were not wearing seatbelts. A total of 127 fatalities have resulted from crashes involving the suspected use of alcohol.
