Gas prices continue to fall this holiday season
Falling gas prices have brought some holiday cheer at the pump, after only recently nearing four dollars per gallon. The average price as of Saturday nationwide had fallen to 3.27 per gallon. The downward trend can be attributed to two things. Prices tend to fall during this time of year as refineries switch to a cheaper winter blend of gasoline and East Coast refineries hit hard by Superstorm Sandy are back up and running. The refineries are now close to normal operations. Prices are expected to continue to trend downward through the end of the year. Almost 85 million people are expected to travel by car during the holiday period. That number is 1.5 million more than the same time last year. AAA expects this holiday season to be the busiest since 2006.
