Ky. Dept. of Education takes controll of Breathitt Co. school district
The Kentucky Department of Education has decided to take over the Breathitt Co. school district. The state will manage the district for a three-year period.
The decision was made after auditor Adam Edelen released an audit of the school system. The audit found former superintendent Arch Turner had modified the calendar last year by omitting ten instructional days. The district paid teachers more than half a million dollars for days they did not work.
