Contract awarded for construction of U.S. 460 in Pike Co.

Governor Steve Beshear announced on Tuesday afternoon that the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has awarded a contract for the next step in a project to create a new U.S. 460 corridor through Pike County.

The $24 million project involves a new section of the new road between Ky. 175 and Pond Creek Road. The section is one of the largest remaining pieces of a new U.S. 460 corridor that will cover nearly 17 miles from U.S. 23 south of Pikeville to the Virginia state line.

Governor Beshear stated that once the project is complete, people living in or traveling through the region will have a safer, more modern four-lane highway for the area. The contract calls for the completion of the project by November 2016.
