Hazard police turning to community to help combat crime

Police in Hazard are asking citizens to keep a watchful eye for crime in the community and--they are giving them plenty of resources to do so. It is an initiative Hazard P.D. will use to focus on community-oriented policing. Police Chief Minor Allen says it’s not a new idea; community oriented policing has been around for years, but now he wants to focus on it more in order to help put a stop to crime in Hazard. Chief Allen has only held this position since the beginning of the year, but he's already shown himself determined to make some changes--now, he's decided to get the community involved. The citizens of Hazard will be able to submit anonymous tips via the web or in "tip boxes" the chief plans to place around town. He says this will help make his department and the citizens of Hazard more aware of crime.
