KSP investigating pedestrian death on U.S. 23

On Thursday, Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Pikeville received a call of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the Stanville community of Floyd County. CVE Officer Tommy Gearheart arrived on scene at the intersection of U.S. 23 and Mare Creek Road. KSP's preliminary investigation indicates that 66-year-old Sharon Ann Ray of Stanville was crossing U.S. 23 when she was struck by a passenger car traveling north. Sharon Ray was pronounced dead at the scene by Floyd County Deputy Coroner Chuck Hall. The collision remains under investigation by KSP Master Trooper Eddie Crum.
