Forum Monday, study in place concerning UPike switching to state university
There will be a public forum on Monday, Feb. 6, to discuss the proposal in the Kentucky State Legislature to include the University of Pikeville in the state university system. The forum will be held from 10 a.m. to noon in Booth Auditorium, Record Memorial Building.
Meanwhile, the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems has been selected by Gov. Steve Beshear to study the feasibility of House Bill 260, which would bring the University of Pikeville into the state university system with a goal of making college more accessible and more affordable for students from Southeastern Kentucky. The study is expected to take six to eight weeks.
