The numbers are in: Prestonsburg drug checkpoint a success
New information is coming to light from Prestonsburg police's roadside checkpoint last Wednesday, their latest strategy for combatting the drug problem.
Officers from the Prestonsburg Police Department and the Floyd County Sheriff’s office set up two checkpoints in Auxier on Wednesday afternoon. Those two checkpoints combined netted eight drug-related or DUI arrests, including the delivery driver for a local pizza establishment. Prestonsburg Police Assistant Chief Brian Hall said three cars were impounded and numerous citations were also written.
According to Hall, police and sheriff's officials will now be performing "high visibility, high saturation" drug checkpoints all through the county.
