Former Ag Cmmr. Farmer in hot water over missing items

The state's new Agriculture Commissioner, James Comer, has made the move to fire reality TV star Rodger Bingham, who gained fame as "Kentucky Joe" on the hit show Survivor. Former Commissioner Richie Farmer appointed Bingham in 2004 as a spokesperson, making around $7,000 a month. The Lexington Herald-Leader reports Bingham's duties included speaking engagements and photo opportunities.

There could also be trouble mounting for Farmer as an internal inventory shows nearly half a million dollars in state property cannot be found. Records show more than 100 computers are missing, including four new laptops that were issued to Farmer in just 2010. All together, more than 170 items have turned up missing and over 100 items were supposed to be given back to the state as surplus property, but do not have tracking numbers that show they have been returned.
