UPDATE: Suspect in custody for allegedly trying to run over Hazard police officer

We are able to update you on the case of the Hazard police officer who was reportedly almost run down by a driver in an SUV on Tuesday. Scott Martin Kadik was arrested Tuesday night, accused of driving the SUV in question and trying to run down Hazard Police Officer Adam Baker.

Officials say Baker was at America's Best Value Inn in Hazard investigating a stolen credit card when Kadik came into the lobby and saw Baker there. Kadik then walked outside and officer Baker followed, wanting to with him. Kadik got into his vehicle and allegedly tried to back over Baker; Officer Baker then fired a shot at the rear tire of the vehicle. Kadik drove the vehicle just a short distance before it stalled. He ran off on foot.

Baker says he caught up and a struggle ensued. Kadik was then arrested and charged with wanton endangerment and wanton endangerment of a police officer.
