Investigators say recent robberies are connected

Police in Johnson County believe three recent robberies are all connected.

The VIP Fuels Marathon in Hager Hill was robbed twice in the past two weeks. The Shell Mart in Paintsville was robbed earlier this week. Investigators believe the same suspects are responsible. Police say the first robbery was January 12th. Sheriff's deputies say a man wearing tan Carhartt clothing and with his face covered came into the Marathon in Hager Hill with a handgun. He demanded cash and left the store. Investigators say he left in a Chevrolet S-10 reported stolen from the Van Lear area. The truck was later found wrecked and abandoned on Route 1428.

On January 21st, police say a man wearing a green pullover, black hoodie, ball cap, and mask came into the Shell Mart in Paintsville with a knife. He also got away with cash. Surveillance video shows him running to the side of the store.

Anyone with information on the robberies, suspects, or stolen vehicles can call the Sheriff's Department at 606-789-3411 or the Paintsville Police Department at 606-789-2603. All tips can remain anonymous.
