Victim's family fights parole for manslaughter convict

A man convicted of manslaughter could be out on parole this fall in Letcher County.

On October 7th, 2010, 48-year-old Mark Sturgill was shot and killed. Melissa Sturgill, along with the rest of her family, say they just want justice for the man who was killed over an issue with a dog.

Samuel Collier has served nearly two years of his 10-year sentence--which is not enough for Sturgill's family. His widow, Melissa, is petitioning Samuel Collier's parole and officials with the parole board say all written statements and petitions will be considered, which Melissa hopes will change the fate of Collier's time served. With a couple hundred signatures and nearly 200 likes on Facebook, Melissa believes she is well on her way to insuring justice is served for her late husband.
