New Magoffin Co. school superintendent ready for the challenges ahead

Magoffin County schools have been through a lot this year, dealing with extensive tornado damage and a tightening budget. Now, Superintendent Joe Hunley announced earlier this year he is retiring, and the board recently voted to hire Stanley Holbrook to fill the position.

Holbrook is no stranger to the school system he'll now be heading up.  He worked for Magoffin County schools for 27 years before settling into retirement. But between the announcement of the current superintendent's retirement, the extensive damage wrought by the tornados, all during a statewide budget crunch, Holbrook thought this was a good time to rejoin the work force.

Holbrook says he knows he is stepping in at a turbulent time for the school system, but he says he believes he is coming in fully prepared to help the school system through it.
