Helping catch copper thieves could mean big cash reward

Officials in Letcher County are reaching out to the public to do its part in helping stop the rash of copper thefts throughout the area--including cash for those whose contributions help stamp out the problem.

The Mountain Eagle reports copper thefts along Highway 15 alone have resulted in a replacement cost estimated at more than $9,000. AT&T officials say they are offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
