Would-be mugger and alleged shoplifter arrested
A man is accused of trying to rob a woman at gunpoint while she was pumping gas.
It happened at the Super Dollar Gas and Go Wednesday afternoon on Town Mountain Road in Pikeville. Police say the suspect, 28-year-old Jeffrey A. Holbrook of Van Lear, left the gas station after the victim told him she did not have any cash. Holbrook was later arrested at Wal-Mart on Cassidy Boulevard. That’s where police say he was shoplifting and was found with a gun.
He faces a number of charges and is now lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.
