Tractor-trailer knocks out lines, causes phone, power outages
Reports indictate a tractor-trailer caused phone and electric outages across downtown Prestonsburg on Friday.
The driver of a Dayton Freight tractor-trailer was attempting to go up Post Office Hill in Prestonsburg, and wound up knocking out telephone and internet service to a wide area of downtown, as well as electric service to some customers, after the top of his rig pulled down utility lines between the Tourism Office and Jimmy Webb’s law practice.
The outages happened Friday around 2:30 in the afternoon; within minutes Prestonsburg fire and police were already at the scene. Kentucky Power had electricity restored by 6 p.m., but AT&T did not have services restored until much later.
