Pike Co. animal shelter needs help
Pike County officials say the local animal shelter is suffering under the weight of too many animals and too little money.
Officials say at any given time the shelter could have 400 to 450 animals in it, and without much budget to pay for extra employees the need for volunteers is great. Many of the animals never make it out, making the shelter one that's "high kill," and officials say this is something they are working hard to change. Anyone wanting more information about adoption or volunteering can contact the shelter at (606) 432-6293.
