Salyersville water still in debt, UMG making progress
Officials in Salyersville say the city's water board is significantly in debt, and was almost taken over by the state. Big changes are now in the works to help get the board running properly. Officials say the Salyersville water district is nearly $200,000 in debt, and they say it is losing money every day. Utility Management Group has stepped in to make some big changes and bring them out of the red. City officials voted to bring in UMG to oversee the water plant nearly three weeks ago. So far officials say UMG has already made significant changes, including finding ways to save nearly $38,000 a year in employee overtime alone.
