Couple pleads guilty to multiple drug and theft charges

A local couple pleaded guilty Monday to charges of possession of methamphetamine precursors and insurance fraud this week in Floyd Circuit Court. Circuit Judge Johnny Ray Harris heard the pleas of the two, and set sentencing for later this year. Toby Akers, 35, and Tiffany Akers, 28, of Martin, both pleaded guilty to reduced charges of being in possession of methamphetamine precursors, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft by deception, two counts of receiving stolen property, tampering with evidence, theft by unlawful taking, and insurance fraud. Toby Akers has also pleaded guilty to a charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
