Police bust drug-loaded car on U.S. 23

A Fayette County man is in jail following an afternoon drug bust along U.S. 23, just outside of Prestonsburg. According to Prestonsburg Police Chief Mike Ormerod, police stopped the vehicle on a routine traffic stop.

“We ran the dog around the car, and the dog hit on the car,” said Assistant Chief Brian Hall.

According to Hall, after the Prestonsburg Police drug dog made a positive hit on the car, detectives obtained a search warrant while the vehicle’s operator was detained. The vehicle was moved to an impound lot, where the search warrant was executed. Inside the vehicle officers found over 200 oxycodone pills, some heroin and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Vincent Lewis of Fayette county was arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance. Prestonsburg Police Department were assisted in the investigation by Floyd County Sheriff’s Department, and the Attorney General’s Office.
