Johnson Co. also badly hit, Floyd Co. dodged a bullet

While reports of damages in Morgan and Magoffin counties have been heartbreaking, there's also Johnson County, where two people also lost their lives as a result of the EF-2 and -3 twisters that touched down. Some homes and businesses were entirely wiped out, with one witness reporting Hager Hill was "gone." We're told West Van Lear also received some damage.

And while all this was going on, only a few miles away, Floyd County braced for a worst case scenario that never came. The National Weather Service said that Floyd County dodged a bullet, and whether by luck or fate, residents are grateful, but are mourning, hurt, and dedicated to help the other communities that make up eastern Kentucky.
