Magoffin, Martin counties expect to be added to disaster declaration

When President Obama declared several Kentucky counties a disaster area Tuesday night, some in Magoffin and Martin counties could not believe they were not on the list. But on Wednesday, leaders in both counties say they expect to be added soon. Officials in both Magoffin and Martin counties are meeting with FEMA representatives and officials from both expect to receive federal assistance.

People in Salyersville are combing through the wreckage, but say they will need help if they're to get things back to normal. Officials say people in Magoffin and Martin Counties should start getting their information together and documenting their damage, so that when the federal disaster declaration is extended, they can start applying immediately.
