Breathitt Co. Schools Superintendent jailed

Arch Turner's attorney has confirmed the Breathitt County School Superintendent is in jail today. Officials with the U.S Attorney's Office say he violated conditions of his bond. He was detained after a court appearance on Tuesday and is being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

Turner was indicted earlier this year on federal charges of conspiring with John Turner (no known relation) to buy votes in the May 2010 primary election. In an agreement to his bond, Turner agreed to violate no federal, state or local law while on release. He also agreed to have his travel restricted to the Eastern District of Kentucky.

The indictment also alleges that Turner influenced another person to falsely testify before a grand jury that he had no knowledge of buying votes. If convicted, Turner faces up to 20 years in prison.
