Hazard police holding forum for meth education

A meeting scheduled for later this month in Hazard aims to put a big dent in the local drug epidemic using what could be law enforcement's most powerful weapon: education.

Officials from Operation UNITE are teaming up with the Hazard Police Department to raise awareness about methamphetamines. The public forum will teach attendees just what meth really is, dispel myths about the dangerous drug, and show them how to recognize it.

Perry Co. authorities hope--as they have before--that the law-abiding community is their best friend when it comes to spotting and cracking down on crime.

The meeting will be May 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the auditorium in the Perry County Library.
