New stores could be coming to Pikeville

Officials say new retail stores are coming to Pikeville, bringing with them several hundred new job opportunities.

Pikeville city officials have been discussing, planning, and hoping for results after the city has agreed to sell 16 acres behind their Wal-Mart to a land developer, and hope to see their collective goals become a reality as early as this fall. Officials say that between traffic from U.S. 23 and the stores that are already in the area like Wal-Mart, Lowe's, and Texas Roadhouse, the area was very enticing to developers hoping to bring new retail locations to the area.

They say that, so far, 10 retailers have signed letters of intent to develop in the area, and though they cannot yet release names or details, they do say they are stores to be excited about.
