Letcher Co. authorities proactive about "bath salt" drugs

The Letcher County Sheriff's office was one of the first in the region to take action on the deadly new epidemic posed by "bath salts," one of the many street names used to sell synthetic marijuana. They've already shut down a local store that was selling the substance, and now they're hoping cooperation from the postal service will help stem the tide of the drug into the area.

Detectives in Letcher County ordered $1,000 worth of bath salts from a company in Texas to try and track the address. Right now, they are not sure what they would be able to do with this information, but they do know that packages thought to contain bath salts may never reach the intended address.
