Floyd County Schools lauded for energy efficiency
Floyd County Schools are being recognized after their increased efforts to become more energy efficient.
Six schools in Floyd County were presented with Energy Star Awards after supporting the district's goal of improved fiscal efficiency. Betsy Layne High School is the latest of Floyd County's schools to receive the Energy Star Award and joins Adams Middle School, Allen Elementary School, Prestonsburg Elementary, Stumbo Elementary School, and Allen Central High School. According to Facilities Director Greg Adams the use of combined technologies like geothermal HVAC systems along with more traditional remodeling and retro-fitting techniques have increased efficiency awareness.
