Federal prisoner charged with escape

A federal prisoner on furlough while in transit between prisons didn’t report to his destination and has been charged with escape.

A federal grand jury indicted Harold Eugene Hayes on Monday, charging him with one count of escape. According to the indictment, Hayes was in Pike County when he escaped March 22. If convicted, Hayes could receive an additional five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
