HRMC loses doctor to heart attack
Just a scant few months after starting to practice in eastern Kentucky, cardiologist Dr. Joel Shapiro has died.
A native of Brooklyn, Dr. Shapiro had recently been hired by Highlands Regional Medical Center--a hiring HRMC COO Chris Hoffman was very happy to announce. Bringing in an award-winning doctor, educator, and researcher with 40 years of experience was great news.
It's suspected that the cause of death was a heart attack, but nothing has been confirmed.
