James D. Adams Middle School evacuated over bomb threat

Students at James D. Adams Middle School in Prestonsburg were evacuated early Tuesday morning after school officials received a bomb threat.

Parents and community members were concerned Tuesday when they saw students from being evacuated from the building in the early morning hours. According to Prestonsburg Police Det. Brian Hall, the school did receive a threat and did evacuate the building because of that threat. The threat was later traced back to two juveniles who have since been arrested. Hall says both juveniles were transported to Breathitt County Juvenile Detention facility and will each face the fullest extent of the law in the matter.

Floyd County Schools Supt. Henry Webb says that the school followed all of their safety protocols to the letter, and notified authorities immediately. Classes returned to normal at the school following the incident.
