Furlough days coming for Kentucky courts
Chief Justice John Minton Junior says it's the worst financial situation the Kentucky court system has ever faced. Thirty-three hundred state employees will be required to take three furlough days after deep budget cuts.
All courthouses throughout the state will be closed on August 6th, September 4th, and October 15th, 2012. Judicial Branch employees found out about their days off without pay through an email, that Minton believes most saw coming.
The Kentucky General Assembly reduced fund availability to the Judicial Branch by $25.2 million dollars for Fiscal Year 2013.
