West Liberty memorial dedicated to tornado victims
A coffee tree now stands in West Liberty to remember those who were lost, but also symbolizes what's to come for the town.
The largest recorded coffee tree in the area was near the old courthouse and was destroyed by the tornadoes over nine months ago. City officials hope that the new one at the park will stand in place of that one, and remind the community of both future growth and past memories.
It is one more reminder of the resiliency of the West Liberty community. The outbreak of tornadoes in West Liberty nine months ago were responsible for over 20 deaths.
