Santa train rolled through Elkhorn City over the weekend

Christmas came early for children in Elkhorn City this past weekend as the Santa Train rolled through town.

Families lined up in Shelbiana as early as 5:30 on Saturday morning. The train made 14 stops in Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee and gave out nearly 15 tons of gifts for children and their families.

This makes the 70th annual ride through the Appalachian Mountains and for many, it has become a family tradition. CSX officials said this train ride was part of their job that they are happy to do.

The last stop for the train was in Kingsport, Tennessee, where county officials there held a parade. CSX reports this was all done to ensure that everyone has a little holiday cheer.
