Coal's future is still a concern in eastern Kentucky

Although there are mixed opinions about the future of coal in eastern Kentucky after Tuesday's election, there was some good news for coal in Pike County.

Pike County Judge Executive Wayne Rutherford announced 150 laid-off miners would be called back to work. He stated the unnamed company has equipment already ordered, and is planning to notify miners soon.

Judge Rutherford believes the coal industry will bounce back, especially once companies start exploring the export market. In his opinion, coal is the "energy king" and will remain that way.
